The design of this dress, together with its sewing pattern comes from the French magazine “La Mode Illustree” No. 6 from 7 February 1869. It is a formal dress made of sateen. Dresses from that period of time have characteristic sloping shoulders and a wide crinoline skirt. The shape of crinoline, a flattened front and sides as well as an uplifted back foreshadows the transition to the next period in fashion – bustle.
The dress can be seen from 8 March to 3 June 2012 in the branch of the National Museum in Kielce, more precisely in Henryk Sienkiewicz Mansion in Oblęgorek. Please visit us.
